Celebrate fall with these fun – and slightly spooky – ideas.

Ghosts and ghouls are around the corner, meaning it’s time to get into the Halloween spirit! Use these little bits of inspiration now so you’re ready when Halloween is here.

Hurry up, because this month will be gone in the blink of an eye..

1. Have a Scary Movie Night

What’s better than snuggling up in blankets on a cold night and watching some Halloween movies? Nothing. Whether you’re addicted to horror and thrillers, or want something a little lighter, there’s a movie out there for everyone

Here are some links to help you with movie ideas:

  • Vogue compiled a list of the 23 scariest movies ever.
  • Pop Sugar came up with 15 Halloween movies that are classic and not scary.
  • Bustle has some movie options that can be found on Netflix.
  • For all you Disney lovers, check out this list.

Grab your best friends or significant other (and movie snacks) and start making your way through one of these lists!

2. Place a Bucket of Candy in Your Room

Ahhhhhh. The childhood nostalgia of trick-or-treating. This is something little and cute you can do to help you get into the spirit. Who doesn’t love candy? Especially when you can grab a little piece every time you walk into your room? As a bonus, your friends will love you even more than they already do.

3. Relax at a Bonfire

Now this is one of my favorite fall activities. It doesn’t have to be super fancy with a huge fire out in the woods. Little backyard fire pits are perfect and are really cheap to do, too.

Grab some blankets, make some s’mores, and have good conversations with your closest friends.

4. Overdo it with Plaid, Scarves, Dark Lipstick, and Riding Boots

Products: Striped Top, Suede Jacket, Plaid Scarf, Brown Riding Boots, Plum Lipstick, Light Jeans, Plaid Tunic, Black Jeans, Black Cross body, Black Infinity Scarf, Black Riding Boot

What better way to get into the fall spirit than by dressing for it? Halloween weather is the perfect time to dress for the fall. Bring out your vamp limps, tall boots, plaid designs, and cozy sweaters.

5. Go to a Halloween Attraction

The possibilities for this are endless! You can go to haunted houses, corn mazes, and hiking trails (they can be spooky). The best part about this is that you can do all of these wonderful and scare filled activities for such a cheap price — some are even free!

All it takes is a little time on the internet to scope some places out and you’re good to go.

6. Make Some Festive Treats

Combine this with the movie night for an epic time! I scoured Pinterest for some ideas for ya’ll. Here are some treats that are sweet and a little spooky…

7. Read Some Horror Fiction

Does Stephen King ring a bell for anyone? Edgar Allen Poe? These are perfect authors to read when the weather gets a little chillier and the mood gets a little more serious.

These reads will either get you excited for Halloween, or you’ll be so spooked, you’ll want Halloween to be over…

8. Do a Little Decorating

I’m a big fan of a little DIY once in a while. It’s relaxing, it gets the creative juices flowing, it’s cheap, and it’s a great activity to do with your friends!

There are so many ways to make your own cute Halloween decorations, so why go buy generic stuff at the store? Make a fun little night out of it!

Here are some DIY crafts I found interesting (and might try myself):

9. Carve Pumpkins

Is it really even Halloween season if you don’t carve pumpkins? If you do anything, then do this! This is the CLASSIC way to get into the fall spirit. House Beautiful has some super stylish ideas to take your pumpkin carving to the next level.

10. Yummy Scented Candles

I really like this idea because this involves zero to no effort (except going to the store to buy the candles, of course!) Note: This item is only for those in apartments that allow candles; if you live in a dorm, be sure to observe their rules – many don’t permit candles.

My roommates and I use candles for each season. We place them at the entrance of the house, in the kitchen, the living room, and I even have one in my room. Right now, we’re all about the comforting fall scents. Love them!
