4 Looks to Get You Pumped for Summer TV
For those days when you just wanna enjoy the AC.
Summer, as we know, is all about enjoying the fabulous weather – not staying inside in front of the TV. But on ultra-lazy days and rainy afternoons, sometimes you need a show to just get lost in. That’s where the new summer TV schedule comes in!
While most of our favorite shows are currently on summer hiatus, there’s still plenty to explore, and some of it is great for binge watching or following with a group of friends.
To get you excited for the summer season, here are four outfits inspired by the hottest summer TV programs out right now:
Orange is the New Black
Orange is the New Black is less of a TV series and more of a cultural phenomenon. One of Netflix’s most popular creations, the show has touched millions of people, making us laugh and cry and think with each season.
Now that OITNB’s fourth season has dropped, it’s the perfect pick to binge watch on a day when you want to beat the heat and stay inside with the AC blasting.
For a look that is cool and serious like the show, tie up some sleek sandals and throw on a chic cuff bracelet. Bring back the basics with a bodysuit that is easy to wear with some jeans rather than just tucking in a shirt for an awkward fit.
Young & Hungry
If you want a show that is cheesy in a good way and oh-so funny, look to Freeform’s Young and Hungry, returning for its fourth season. The series follows young chef Gabi Diamond and her best friend Sofia in San Francisco as Gabi works as a personal chef for millionaire Josh, who is also her love interest.
Honestly, I could do a whole post on Gabi’s style. It is amazing, fun, and perfect for the summer weather. Full of bright tanks, jeans, and flirty dresses, Gabi’s wardrobe is the perfect inspiration for a summertime look.
To get Gabi’s style vibe, start with a fit-and-flare dress and a pale leather jacket for a cool, colorful look. A crossbody bag and espadrille wedges are essential, while pink nail polish adds an additional pop of color. To reflect Gabi’s cheery personality and the show’s colorful setting, finish with funky jewelry.
It’s amazing when a show makes its audience care about terrible people doing absurd things in the name of fame and success. No I’m not talking about The Bachelor, I’m talking about UnREAL, a show about the making of a popular reality television program and all the drama that goes on behind closed doors. The series became a hit from word of mouth publicity last year and now it’s back for the summer in its second season.
One of the main characters of the show, Rachel, is a producer behind the scenes. While the people on camera are polished and well groomed, Rachel and other members of the crew have no need to look too good.
For a comfortable, yet put together look, throw on a light t shirt and some faded jeans for a hipster-esque style. Some plimsolls, a fanny pack, and a ponytail complete an outfit for when you’re watching UnREAL.
Fans of punny humor and movies like Airplane! need to tune in to Angie Tribeca, a cop comedy on TBS about a police station. Starring Parks and Recreation’s Rashida Jones, the show plays like a typical procedural cop show but parodies it to the nth degree. Filled with gags, absurd stunts, and played-straight performances, the show’s second season has just premiered for the summer season.
While the show is wacky and fun, the detectives of the RHCU (Really Heinous Crimes Unit) are no-nonsense officers. For a professional look, wear a rust button-up shirt with a simple skirt and blazer. For a hint of charm you can wear this simple bracelet and these sleek heels for kicking bad guys.
