So, it’s official: Hillary Clinton was formally announced at the Democratic National Convention as the first-ever female nominee of a major political party. Take that, glass ceiling!

As exciting as this milestone is for all of womankind, I understand that some of you aren’t as “With Her” as I am, and that’s perfectly fine by me. To each her own! It just makes me wish that there were a female political candidate that we could all agree could run America correctly: someone smart, strong, powerful, charismatic, and willing to take strides to make actual change in this country. A true heroine.

You know, like the ones on TV!

That being said, here are my top picks for leading TV ladies who could most definitely lead America in the right direction (and yes, I only stuck to TV, for if I had also included movies and books, this list would go on and on- Imperator Furiosa, Hermione Granger, Black Widow…you get the idea).

Also: spoilers!

Annalise Keating

Murder isn’t the lightest, fluffiest of subjects, but Annalise is far from light and fluffy: she’s no-nonsense and tough-as-nails, which is useful when, one minute, you’re at the top of your game as a respected professor with a loving husband, and then the next minute, one of your students kills said husband and then shoots you while he’s at it.

I don’t know how she does it, but every crazy step of the way, Annalise manages to stay cool as a cucumber. All of the drama at the White House would be a piece of cake.

Olivia Pope

Is this pick too obvious, considering Olivia already has very close ties to the White House? Maybe, but I think that just makes her an even better potential (imaginary) candidate.

Nobody knows political ins-and-outs better than Olivia does, considering that she has saved the reputation of others and herself on many an occasion. Fitz, step aside; you’re job’s been handled.

Cookie Lyon

Ruthless? Vindictive? Perhaps just a bit off-kilter? Cookie is all of those things, yes, but no one said the leader of the free world is supposed to be all hearts and rainbows, even if she happens to be a woman.

Cookie knows what she wants and is willing to push through anything – or anyone – in her path in order to get it. Lucious Lyon may be running Empire Records right now, but wouldn’t it just be the sweetest revenge to have his ex-wife in the White House? Super sweet…which this Cookie definitely isn’t.

Regina Mills

So Regina kind of has a lot on her plate right now: her adopted son’s biological family is back in the picture, her love interests never fail to die young…and she’s trying to redeem herself and prove to the people of Storybrooke and the Enchanted Forest that she is no longer the Evil Queen she was once.

That, again, is a lot. But Regina always manages to come out back on top, with her family in tow and her signature smirk on her face. And hey, she’s already been both a queen and a mayor, which means presidency is just a hop, skip, and a jump away.

Daenerys Targaryen

You knew this entry was coming, right? Everyone who’s in the know about pop culture knows about Daenerys Targaryen, and anyone who knows about Daenerys loves her. Not that it’s hard to love a fiery, bold, strong-willed queen- er, Khaleesi – who rose from being a timid girl abused by her brother to the most well-known and respected ruler around.

Plus, Daenerys is kind and altruistic, as shown by freeing the people of Slaver’s Bay, and if all else fails, she’s sure to get the vote when she shows off her maternal side around her three loyal, beloved dragons.

Kara Zor-El, a.k.a Supergirl

She’s a superhero. Need I say more?

What Do You Think?

I don’t know about you guys, but I think this country needs a woman in the White House, like, yesterday. If Hillary doesn’t float your boat, which of the above faux-candidates would you prefer? Or is there another fictional lady who has your vote? You guys aren’t limited to TV, so think big!

And remember to dream big, too, because that’s the first step to making a change yourself. I wouldn’t be surprise to see any of you awesome College Fashion readers sworn in one day in the future, but as for myself, I’ll stay behind my screen for the time being, giving you as much entertainment as I can.
