You don’t have to buy a whole new wardrobe for the beginning of a new semester!

It’s back-to-school season and that means fall is right around the corner! I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait: I’ve been counting down the days until I move back to campus and the weather turns cool.

I’m definitely one of those people who gets way too excited for fall (I’m listening to my Halloween playlist while I write this, tbh), and the same goes for fall fashion!

Unfortunately, it doesn’t always get cold as soon I’d like where I live, and I also cant afford to buy an entire new wardrobe every season. So, I’m challenging myself to create some transition outfits for those tricky weeks in between summer and fall

See the outfit sets below for inspiration:

Summer to Fall Transition Outfit 1:

Products: Dress – Red Dress Boutique, Jacket – J.Crew Factory, Necklace – Francescas, Ankle Boots – Target

Summer sundresses transition really well into the fall with a few added layers. A jean jacket, for instance, looks really cute with a bright, printed dress.

If you’re eager to wear your fall shoes, you can totally wear your new ankle boots with this look. (These are great because they’re a neutral color and low heel.) To finish off this outfit, rock a gold pendant necklace to tie it all together!

Summer to Fall Transition Outfit 2:

Products: Sweater – Red Dress Boutique, Shorts – American Eagle, Necklace – Etsy, Shoes – Red Dress Boutique

I will look for any excuse to wear a sweatshirt — even if it’s still 90 degrees outside! A light sweatshirt or sweater is a great piece to transition into fall, especially when paired with shorts or a skirt.

I paired this casual mauve sweatshirt with distressed denim shorts and adorable gray suede sneakers. To add some interest, I added a trendy lariat necklace. This look is really casual and so perfect for transitioning to fall!

Summer to Fall Transition Outfit 3:

Products: Dress – Forever 21, Flannel – American Eagle, Shoes – Target, Bag – Red Dress Boutique

There’s nothing more fall-esque than a good flannel shirt! If you want to break yours out a little early, I recommend tying it around your waist. This style has been trendy for a while now and it adds a lot to otherwise simple outfits.

I paired this black and white flannel with a basic tee shirt dress. I added a taupe crossbody bag and a simple, comfy pair of sandals to finish off this easy look!
