Summer isn’t over yet! Here’s how to keep your hair looking great for the weeks we have left.

While summer may be the best time of the year, it certainly doesn’t provide us with our best hair of the year. And it’s no surprise: Humidity, coupled with constant outings to the beach and pool can start to affect your hair and can leave you with frizzy, untamed hair or knots on knots throughout your head.

Over the years, I’ve put together a summer hair product arsenal that helps me survive this bad hair season. Below I’ll share five of my favorite summer hair products, ever — these are the must-haves I use faithfully to get me through the warm months.

1. Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray

Summer beach waves are all about natural beauty and embracing your natural hair texture. While natural beach waves, of course, come from the sea after a long relaxing day at the beach, recreating this look on a daily or weekly basis is completely possible without having to go to the ocean, which is especially handy for anyone who might be landlocked.

One of my favorite hair products is the Bumble and Bumble Sea Salt spray. While it is a little bit on the pricier side, I find it isn’t as drying as other sprays can be.

If you’re on a budget, try a DIY sea salt spray. Simply mix a little sea salt, water, and a tiny bit of conditioner and spray away.

2. Lush Queen Bee Hair Balm

Queen Bee by Lush has saved my life more times than I can count. In the most humid of weather, it has managed to keep my curly hair tamed and frizz-free.

The consistency of the product is balm-like and in my opinion, shows best results when mixed with a bit of conditioner and slathered onto wet hair. The best part about this product is that a little goes a long way and since they’re cut into blocks, you can buy as much or as little as you want.

3. Shea Moisture Intensive Hydration Conditioner

This Shea Butter and honey infused conditioner hydrates my hair without weighing it down, as it also happens to be silicone-free. I actually use this bad boy as a hair mask and leave in conditioner in addition to its usual purpose. When you’re experiencing dry hair or frizz, this product will lock your hair down in hydration to keep your locks shiny and moisturized.

4. DevaCurl Ultra Defining Gel

This hair gel is perfect for the summer because humidity is no match for this product. On days when I want a little more definition and hold to my hair to prevent it from becoming frizzy, I use a generous amount of the ultra defining gel to keep my hair looking smooth and defined.

While I, a curly haired girl, use the ultra defining gel, those with wavy hair may be better off using the light defining gel instead. This is completely up to you and what you prefer your hair to look like, so play around with the products and see what works for you! I understand these are expensive, so see if you can get a couple of free samples at your local beauty shop before you buy — I think you’ll love these products!

5. Head and Shoulders Shampoo

With all the products I slather into my hair, I try to use a shampoo with sulfate at least once or twice a week. While I am usually a sulfate-free silicone-free girl, this shampoo helps clarify my hair to really get rid of any product and make it feel clean and healthy again, ready for another round of styling.

What are your favorite summer hair products?

With any of these recommendations, you will be sure to have fabulous hair this summer and have everyone asking you what you’re doing and what your secrets are.
