Inspired by college girls across the country.

As March Madness comes to a close, I can’t help but reflect on an experience that I’ve loved so far in school – college sports. Whether you go to an enormous state university or a small private school, it is is easy (and fun!) to take part in the athletic side of college.

After high school, my close friends went all over the country for college. Thanks to social media, I’ve been able to keep up with most of them. From the time school starts to summer break, my feed is filled with game day pictures.

As a sucker for all things clothing-related, I am literally obsessed with game day fashion. Every school has a different idea of what constitutes said attire, and I love keeping up with the trends from college to college!

As a self-proclaimed expert on this topic, I’ve compiled a lookbook of my favorite game day looks the cutest ways to show your school spirit! It’s never too early to start gearing up for next season (or for just heading to class!).

1. The School Colors Approach (Inspired by the University of Arizona)

Products: T-Shirt Dress – Abercrombie / Bandana – Accessorize / Sunglasses – Forever 21 / Bag – Luxury Divas / Socks – Topshop / Shoes – Converse

Love this game day inspiration from the University of Arizona – the t-shirt dress is super versatile, and so comfortable to wear during hot, sticky weather. Coordinate your outfit with your school colors, and you’re guaranteed to be cute and collegiate!

This outfit would be perfect to wear to game day or just to class. Tie the bandana around your neck for a retro look or wear it as a headband. Make sure you add socks and a bag to match, too.

Gearing up for a big game? Temporary tattoos are the cutest way to show major school spirit – check these out from the University of Arizona Bookstore!

2. The Skirt Approach (Inspired by the University of Southern California)

Products: Crop Top – River Island / Socks – Amazon / Earrings – Amazon / Skirt – Pilot UK / Headband – Forever 21 / Fanny Pack – Vans / Tennis Shoes – Keds

With a ton of my friends going to USC, I constantly see these skirts making an appearance on my Instagram feed.

Theses skirts pay homage to the USC Song Girls – a spirit squad at the college (as a college dancer myself, I am absolutely head over heels with these uniforms).

I adore the cheerleading-inspired vibe from this game day style, and it is super easy to replicate at your own school! Pair a skater skirt (in your school colors, of course) with a campus crop-top and a cute pair of sneakers. A headband (like the one above) keeps your hair out of your face in hot weather.

Alright, alright, I never thought I would include a fanny pack in any outfit inspiration – like EVER. However, they actually look super cute on game day, and are quite practical.

3. The Jean and T-Shirt Approach (Inspired by the University of Kansas)

Products: Shirt – American Eagle Outfitters / Jeans – Topshop / Headband – Etsy / Shoes – Vans

Of course, any tailgating outfit is made complete with a pair of jeans. When someone inevitably spills something on you at/before the game, your trusty jeans won’t be fazed!

We love, love, love, the collegiate collection from American Eagle Outfitters , which is where this tank is from – check the full collection out here. (Also, yay – it’s affordable!) Sneakers are essentials – I adore white, but be prepared to throw them in the wash more than a few times!

Thoughts?

What is your go-to game day look? What is better: the tailgate, or the actual game? Do you have any favorite collegiate brands? Let me know in the comments!
