3 Outfit Ideas We're Stealing from Julia Engel of Gal Meets Glam
Her style is SO GOOD!
I have been a longtime follower of Gal Meets Glam, a blog by Julia Engel. In case you aren’t familiar, Julia is absolutely gorgeous and has a classic, girly style that’s sure to inspire you.
Julia has a knack for mixing simple pieces, like a simple skater skirt and blouse, for example, and looking incredibly classy and put-together. Her style is always her own, and she always looks polished yet not too buttoned-up.
Julia has a huge following, so when I was brainstorming Instagram girls to feature, I knew she had to be on my list. Julia’s Instagram is full of gorgeous pictures of her and her husband and their travels. If you’ve never seen it, prepare to be absolutely jealous when you take a look.
But without further ado, let’s get started with the outfit recreations! It’s time for Julia Engel Style, 101.
Julia Engel Style – Outfit 1:
This is exactly what I mean when I say Julia picks simple pieces and makes them look so good together.
A puff-sleeve button-down is the perfect piece for a classic dresser because it adds a fun, trendy detail to the essential button-down blouse.
When you pair the blouse with satin pants, a cute wooden handle bag, and minimal jewelry, you have the perfect outfit to wear to work, or in another business casual environment, and then to transition to brunch with your girlfriends.

To recreate Julia’s look, I decided to make the outfit a little more interesting with a pair of flared, printed pants and a similar blouse. I added bold tassel earrings for a hint of trendiness and finished with bow-embellished mules.
Julia Engel Style – Outfit 2:
Here, Julia looks perfectly fun, fresh, and whimsical in flared, striped pants, a gathered waist top with side ties, and the same wooden handle bag from outfit 1. This is such a gorgeous look for summer, or any warm climate.

Now, it may be a little chilly rn for this outfit (unless you live somewhere super warm), so you can either throw a cute denim jacket over top or save the inspiration for next summer. Either way, tie details have been super in as they add a little something extra to any outfit.
Here, I was able to find a top that also tied on the shoulders with a more effortless vibe so it can be swapped out with tons of different bottom options (not just these cool striped pants) or changed to fit your particular style.
Julia Engel Style – Outfit 3:
If denim skirts were the style of the summer, I think plaid skirts are going to take their spot for the fall and winter. They give you that cute ’90s schoolgirl vibe without being over the top. As well, they pair perfectly with over-the-kneed boots and a cute sweater.
Add a beret and you’ve got a chic ensemble that keeps you perfectly warm and looking cute for any autumn events you may be attending.

To recreate this look, I started with a plaid skirt – this one has a super subtle print so it’s a toned-down take on the schoolgirl look. Next, add a chunky knit cropped sweater and comfy over-the-knee boots. Finish with a ’90s-fab mini backpack.
