Who says you can’t be spirited BEFORE Halloween?

We’re slowly but surely reaching the end of October, the spookiest time of the year. Luckily for us makeup junkies, this is an amazing time to experiment with crazy makeup products and trends that we wouldn’t normally wear in our everyday lives.

As we gear up for Halloween night, you might be thinking to yourself, “Gee, I really love getting dressed up for Halloween but I wish I could look festive for more than just one night.”

Luckily for you, there are several makeup looks that are daytime-appropriate yet will still let people know you’re feeling the spookiness of an impending epic Halloween.

If you’re a Halloween junkie who loves to get everyone around you as excited for the 31st as you are, I’ve compiled 4 costume-inspired looks that are sure to raise the dead this October.

For fun, festive makeup looks that can be worn even on the days leading up to Halloween, keep on reading:

1. EXTREME Cat-Eye Liner

For some, winged eyeliner is an everyday staple. With a simple flick of your preferred liquid eyeliner applicator, you have a bold yet feminine eye look, providing enough of a statement to stand on its own yet simple enough to add a bright lip color to.

Instead of doing the same ol’ understated cat eye, try upping the ante in the spirit of Halloween 2k17

There are many variations of extreme cat eyes, like the nikkietutorials version above or the bolder option shown below, depending on your makeup comfort-level.

The key with this type of look is to go beyond a simple wing by adding length, volume, and a dash of creativity. Plus, this look gives off major Halloween-ready vibes without looking ghastly.

2. Vampy Lip/Black lipstick

Ever since watching The Craft for the first time in my freshman year of college, I’ve become obsessed with how grungy-chic dark lipsticks look, especially in the fall time.

Contrary to popular belief, black lipstick isn’t just for goth style makeup anymore, and can even look super trendy when paired with the right eye makeup.

If you’re looking to wear black or dark/vampy lipstick during the day, it’s best to keep your eye makeup to a minimum.

Some dark plum eyeshadow smudged in the outer corner of your eyes to add color and depth will tie the whole look together and keep you from looking like you’ve put on your costume prematurely.

3. Intergalactic/Mermaid/Unicorn Trend

For the past year or two, colorful unicorn/mermaid/ethereal Halloween makeup looks have been incredibly popular. I can certainly understand the appeal, especially considering how amazing the end results often are.

If you’re someone who loves these colorful makeup looks and wants to rock it in the daytime, there are several things you can do to make it less costume-y and more glam.

For starters, instead of adding color and glitter to the entire face, concentrate it to one or two areas, like the lips and the eyes or the eyes and the cheeks. Various shades of blue, purple, pink, and green are most popular for these looks.

Try pairing this bold Kathleenlights eye look with one of Kat Von D Beauty’s gorgeous Glimmer Veil Liquid Lipsticks on the lips for extra oomph. You’ll have just enough color and sparkle to let people know that you mean business when it comes to all things Halloween.

4. Small Halloween-themed Eye Makeup Details

Last but not least, you can always incorporate a little Halloween spirit into your makeup looks with smaller and more subtle details such as spiderweb fake eyelashes or creating a mini spiderweb on your winged liner.

The best part about this type of Halloween-inspired look is that you get to completely personalize it based on what you like best.

If you’re a Potterhead you might enjoy creating a lightening bolt wing with your liquid liner, or if you’re into Game of Thrones you might enjoy creating literal eyeliner wings.

There are tons of festive ideas and makeup inspo on Instagram and Pinterest from brilliantly creative makeup lovers, but the best results always come from personal inspirations.

Have a gorgeous Halloween!

Whether you’re going all out for Halloween 2017 or just having a chill night with close friends, no matter how you plan to spend your Halloween (and the days leading up to it) you should always remember to: 1) celebrate safely, and 2) eat candy in moderation.

Happy (almost) Halloween from CF!
