Makeup is a big part of my life and it’s no secret that I thoroughly enjoy it. I mean, I write about it weekly. But even I have times where I want to just wipe everything off my face and let my skin breathe.

Since my time in college, I’ve found makeup removers are truly the unsung heroes in my daily routine. Here are six fantastic makeup removers that will make removing your makeup an effortless, mess-free task (and they won’t leave you looking like L. Conrad in this photo).

Best Overall: Garnier Micellar Makeup Removing Towelettes

TargetWalgreensUlta

Two words: Holy. Grail. If I could only recommend one makeup remover from this list, it would be these Garnier wipes. These are hands down the best makeup wipes I’ve ever, ever tried.

They’re incredibly soft and gentle, smell fantastic, and remove waterproof or stubborn makeup effortlessly. These wipes also don’t irritate my skin like some other removers.

These wipes far exceeded my expectations and I’d say they’re the best drugstore makeup wipes around. Run to your nearest drugstore makeup supplier and grab yourself these incredible wipes!

Best for Sensitive Skin: Simple Cleansing Micellar Water

SimpleWalgreens

This beloved favorite is one of the best micellar waters on the market. While it’s incredibly simple (as the name suggests), it’s fantastic!

This is one of the few waters that actually looks, feels, and smells like water, but it has all the functions (properties) of a makeup remover.

This gentle micellar water is able to remove everything from stubborn mascara, liquid lipstick, and foundation. Plus, it leaves your skin feeling incredibly clean and refreshed!

Best for Moisture: Clinique Take the Day Off Balm

SephoraClinique

Skincare is a strong suit with Clinique, so it’s no surprise their cleansing balm is top notch. This lightweight balm transforms into an oil-like texture that removes makeup in a heartbeat.

While this is a slightly more expensive option, you do get a good amount of product and you only need the tiniest bit for a deep cleanse. Overall, this super-hyped product is worth both the hype and the price tag.

Best for That Squeaky Clean Feel: L’oreal Micellar Cleansing Water Complete Cleanser

Walgreens, Target, CVS

This cleansing water is a relatively new release from L’oreal, but it’s already earned it’s spot on my favorites list. The texture and smell are wonderful, and this could honestly be a dupe for the Simple micellar cleansing water because the two work so similarly.

Even though this is just their regular micellar water, this line also has two more removers targeted for normal/oily skin and normal/dry skin. It’s a collection with a makeup remover for everyone!

Best for Dry Skin: The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil

Ulta

Cleansing oils are incredible at removing eye makeup in particular, but this one from The Body Shop manages to remove all makeup on your face with minimal difficulty. The pleasant camomile scent and lightweight texture make it easy and pleasant to use.

This oil wipes off insanely stubborn makeup while invigorating your skin with moisture. This hidden gem is unquestionably one of the standout products from The Body Shop.

Best for Late Nights: Neutrogena Night Calming Makeup Towlettes

Target, Walmart, Walgreens

Last, these makeup wipes from Neutrogena are fantastic because of their soothing effect

My skin can sometimes become irritated from continuous rubbing with a makeup wipe, but these wipes have never given my skin an issue. They work almost as effectively as an oil, which is incredibly impressive. For people with sensitive skin, this is a must-try product!
