Italian style is a great way to brighten your December.

After spending the week in Italy, I got a clear sense of the varying architectural styles from city to city. In contrast to the bright colors of Venice, Florence, Italy is a city in neutral tones, with buildings dating back to as early as the 10th century (or even before)! The beautiful warm colors of the buildings, the scenery, and the food make for some great Italian fashion inspiration

So keep reading to see how you can channel the city of Florence in your day-to-day looks.

The Skyline

One of the most breathtaking parts of Florence (literally and figuratively, with all those steps) is the spectacular panoramic view from Piazzale Michelangelo. The hilltop lets you see all of this beautiful city from one high viewpoint.

At sunset, the sky provides a colorful backdrop to the picturesque city. Below is a look inspired by the Baroque style and warm colors of the buildings that can be seen from Piazzale Michelangelo.

The Gelato

Wherever you are in Florence, gelato isn’t far away. On every corner you can find mounds of this delicious looking – and even more delicious tasting – Italian style ice cream. They say Florence has the best gelato in all of Italy, and I have to say, it might be true.

Since gelato is so prevalent in Florence, why not use its beautiful, bright colors for some fashion inspiration? Don’t be afraid of mixing two unexpected colors, like the vibrant yellow and plum shown in the outfit below.

The Architecture

The architecture in Florence varies in style from Renaissance to Baroque. The Basilica of Santo Spirito, pictured above, is an example of the city’s Renaissance architecture. With a mainly white facade and colorful details, the beauty of the building is easy inspiration for a punchy holiday outfit, like the following look.
