There’s nothing more classic then a striped shirt. It’s one of those wardrobe staples that even your grandma probably owns. If you don’t have this wardrobe staple in your closet, you’re definitely missing out.  

However, if you do own a striped shirt and want to mix it up, why not go bold with a striped crop top this season? Long sleeve crop tops are perfect for the summer-to-fall transition and they’re totally on-trend.

Below, I’ll show you two striped crop top outfit ideas, with ways to wear this unexpected piece for class and a night out.

How to Style a Striped Crop Top for Class:

For our daytime look, we’re going full force with this trend — I’m talking stripes on stripes. 

Mixing prints is a great way to take a slight fashion risk while showing off your style. However, mixing stripes is something you can definitely do with minimal risk. It’s not too crazy of a look, especially if the stripes are varied.

For this look, we’re going to mix our prints not by color, but by direction, namely mixing horizontal stripes with vertical stripes. Mixing stripes by direction versus by color is always a safe bet. Here, I chose vertically striped high-waisted pants to pair with the horizontal stripe crop top.

Pairing the look with a plain shoe, like these sneakers from Nine West, is also a good call. A solid shoe is just what you need for daytime when your outfit is so bold.

For a night out, let’s ditch those pants for a jean skirt. Pairing the striped crop top with a stark white jean skirt provides a good canvas for our stripes.
