Britt Laspina is a young and extremely talented print, textile and creative designer based in Brisbane, Australia. Having already collaborated with many international labels, Britt’s colorful creations are popping up everywhere!

Britt first realized she had a knack for designing when she caught herself doodling symmetrical patterns in classes. After finishing her Bachelor of Business Degree at QUT, double majoring in Integrated Marketing Communications and Human Resources, Britt was approached to have her artwork printed on fabric. In 2014, at the tender age of 19, she started up her own design business, pursuing her dreams and turning her hobby into a successful career.

You’d be surprised to find out that Britt has absolutely no formal training in art, design or even textiles: She’s entirely self-taught! She states, “one day I had an urge to start painting, so I made a trip to the art store and it all started from there.

On her YouTube channel she states,

“I mainly paint and draw things that I know will look beautiful mirrored or symmetrical. I love culture, I love architecture, like inside of cathedrals or churches, mosques, anything that has rich culture. Stained glass windows, mandalas, Turkish designs, summer, fruits, neons.”

All of Britt’s designs are hand-drawn and hand-painted. Due to digital and technological advancements, this type of personal, crafted approach has largely been phased out in other design studios. However, it remains a natural and essential part of Britt’s work.

Today, Britt’s studio creates innovative, eye-catching designs that are aesthetically pleasing — and it does so all year round. Having become known around the globe, her prints are now sold worldwide.

Recently, Britt has collaborated with international labels such as Sabo Skirt, Plumeria Swimwear, Black Milk Clothing and Bio Pak. Her prints have also exhibited internationally at events such as Premiere Vision in New York City, the largest trend forecasting event in the world.

I first found Britt’s designs and prints because they were all over my Pinterest, and I’m so glad I did! It’s hard not to appreciate her incredibly detailed, vibrant and quirky designs as well as her strong work ethic and commitment to her craft.
