Diana was a princess, but her style was fit for a queen.

It’s been 20 years since the death of the stunning, iconic, sweet, and beloved Diana, Princess of Wales. Her presence is still felt today in so many ways.

Diana, if you don’t know, was the epitome of beauty and class — she was called “The People’s Princess” for a reason.

Personally, Diana is one of my role models: Even dealing with a cheating husband that sparked her eating disorder, a media spotlight that never let her rest, and a dramatic and messy divorce, Diana used her royal status to enrich the lives of others.

Princess Diana did good all over the world, from hugging and shaking hands with HIV/AIDS patients (which was controversial at the time) to campaigning to remove landmines worldwide. Her heart went out to people in need, and she was known for using every possible resource at her disposal to make the lives of the needy better.

Secondary to all the wonderful things she did, Diana was a style icon. In fact, some of her most legendary styles are on display at Kensington Palace, in an exhibit entitled “Diana: Her Fashion Story.” This exhibition showcases 25 of Diana’s most iconic dresses.

What’s so inspiring about Princess Diana’s style choices is she made many of them for specific purposes. For example, she didn’t wear gloves because she liked to hold hands with hospital patients. And when visiting children, she tended to wear bright colors to appear more approachable.

And, if you’re hooked on Diana’s style choices like I am, below are three inspired looks from the beautiful Princess of Wales.

Princess Diana Outfit 1: Trench Coat to Take the Streets

Products: Jacket – Forever 21, Shorts – H&M, T-Shirt – H&M, Scarf – Mango, Sunglasses – American Eagle, Bag – Old Navy, Socks – Pacsun, Sneakers – Nordstrom Rack

Whether you’re on your way home from the gym or running late to class, channel your inner Princess Diana with a super casusal, sporty chic look. Grab your trusty white crew neck tee and denim shorts to stay comfy and fresh. Throw on this street smart trench jacket for extra flair.

Then, add some Adidas white crew socks and matching sneakers for an effortless street vibe. Grab some oversized sunglasses and black bag as equally important extras.

Finally, wrap a baby blue scarf around your neck, à la Princess Diana, and you are ready to run your daily errands like her Highness.

Princess Diana Outfit 2: Matching Set Fit for Tea

Products: Set – Boohoo, Earrings – 6PM, Satchel – Overstock, Heels – MissGuided

For a simply stunning look, shadow Princess Diana’s grace in a lovely blue matching set, like this one from Boohoo. I imagine a young Princess Diana is attending high tea or lunch with girlfriends in this attire. Although crop tops aren’t royal-approved, they’re fine for us college girls, so take advantage!

Though we can’t see what Diana is wearing on her feet in the photo above, I would imagine it is something lovely and simple. Pull on some dainty white strappy heels to continue this sweet ensemble.

Carry your necessities in a grey satchel and accessorize with pearl earrings. Voila! You look gorgeous and pulled-together like the Princess herself.

Princess Diana Outfit 3: Working Hard in Chambray & Chinos

Products: Chinos – Pacsun, Top – Target, Sneakers – Amazon, Bracelet – Oliver Bonas, Earrings – Banana Republic

Princess Diana was one with the people and loved lending a helping hand whenever she could. You can do the same through volunteer work in your spare time!

If you’re wondering what to wear for your next volunteer opportunity, take inspo from Diana in a sleeveless denim top and olive green chino pants. Keep your feet comfortable so you can move around the best in some sneakers (like Converse!).

Make sure your accessory load is light and stick with your favorite classics, like pearl earrings (we know Diana loves those!) and a gold bracelet. You can make a difference, just like Diana did.
