Never has “bundled up” looked so stylish.

Christmas is ever-approaching and the temperatures are dropping lower and lower. However, dressing warm for winter does not necessarily have to limit your style to the same boring, bulky outfit as everyone else. Bih shows us how it’s done as she flaunts her unconventional, yet stylish look on a particularly chilly school day.

Bih 101

Name: Bih

Age: 22

School: University of Vienna

Major: Journalism and Communication Studies

Let’s Talk Fashion

Why did you choose this particular outfit today? “I like wearing a lot of dark clothes in winter, even though I try not to, and I was tired of wearing pants so I opted for a long skirt – since it is winter.”

How would you describe your sense of style? “Like everyone else, I have my own unique and personal style. It stems from revisiting my mom’s old pictures and closet way too many times as a child. It’s ‘old school meets a dash of new school.'”

Who or what inspires your style?“Like I mentioned before, primarily my mom and the era she grew up in. I also get a lot of inspiration from the Asian fashion market, specifically South Korea and Japan.”

If you could raid anyone’s closet, who would you choose? “My mom’s closet! She has so many one-of-a-kind items and I love knowing [that] whatever I’m wearing right now, no one else probably has.”

Do you have any favorite fashion designers? If so, who? “It changes over time, depending on my mood and the designer’s mood. I like vintage Chanel but I don’t really enjoy their contemporary fashion. I’m currently obsessed with Jeremy Scott and Moschino, though.”

What fashion advice would you give to fellow students, looking to improve their style? “Do your thing! There’s no wrong and right in fashion as long as you’re comfortable and your wear your stuff proudly.”

What do you do for fun – any unique hobbies or interests? “I’m really into photography and video editing. But writing comes first, of course. In my spare time I enjoy spending way too many hours on Pinterest.”

Where do you like to shop? “I’m an avid thrifter, so I usually go anywhere that offers second-hand and preloved clothing. But if I were to break my ethics because I’m a weak and faulty human being, I’d go for the lesser evil like H&M.”

Elements of Bih’s Outfit

1. Chunky Cuff

Bih’s comfy coat has the most beautiful detailing to it. The silver hardware buckles on the cuffs add edge to her overall look. All that thrifting definitely seems to be worthwhile when it yields such unique treasures!

2. Baseball Cap

Snapbacks are everywhere at the moment, from Instagram to the streets. Bih tops her personalized look off with a subtle, fitted black cap as a finishing touch.

3. Maxi Skirt

Who says you can’t wear your maxi skirts in winter? While everyone is rushing to class in their skinny jeans, it’s refreshing to spot a trendy student flaunting a skirt for a change. Pair with some cozy tights underneath for additional warmth and you’re good to go.

Now we want to know what you think!
