Davey is a recent WVU graduate who has a fresh degree in Strategic Communications and a killer eye for aesthetics. I spotted him on the Evansdale campus wrapping up a study session.
His “dressed down” style would be considered “dressed up” for many of us, which is what makes his campus look so inspiring. Davey may have just graduated, but you can give him the final grade on this ensemble.

Let’s Talk Fashion
Who or what inspires your style? “Stromae is a big influence in my style [because of] his usage of floral patterns and flowy jackets. I really like to see a combination of streetwear and formalwear with artwork thrown in the mix.”
Where do you like to shop? “I get a lot of my clothes from thrift stores and get the essentials at H&M, ASOS, and random online stores.”
How would you describe your sense of style? “I’d describe my sense of style as ‘formal streetwear.’ I love bringing a causal feeling to formal items of clothing.”
Why did you choose this particular outfit? “I think [this] outfit sums up most of my tastes very well. This shirt is a custom design made by one of my favorite artists, Josh Brizuela. He made it for my birthday so it’s really special to me.”
What advice would you give to other students looking to improve their style? “I think it’s really important to mix styles. Don’t feel the need to stick with one thing in particular because changing everything up a little can be really eye-catching.”
Do you have any favorite trends? “I really like the usage of ‘ironic’ band shirts like old ’90s country bands. It proves you can make anything cool and not just expensive, showy brands.”
Do you have any favorite fashion designers? “I don’t have any designers that I really look up to, but I respect stylists like Matthew Henson for creating such huge waves in the fashion industry. They pull from so many different areas of influence and create some really interesting pieces.”
What do you do for fun – do you have any unique hobbies or interests? “My career is filmmaking, so most of my extra hobbies lie in photography and arts. I love to travel and camp because it gives me more opportunity to film incredible things.”
If you could raid anyone’s closet, who would it be and why? “I would probably raid TheDressedChest from Instagram. He has some incredible formalwear with a large selection of coats, jackets, and cardigans. His wardrobe is very diverse and leaves room for endless combinations.”

1. Graphic Tee + Cardigan
The best outfits are the ones that carry a great story. Davey’s shirt, as mentioned, is a custom design from his favorite artist, Josh Brizuela. I love how he added the long sleeve cardigan in solid gray, which doesn’t take away from the graphic design. He has perfected a neutral hipster look that is bound to turn heads.
2. Brown Belt + Dark Denim
Belts are a classic accessory, especially for menswear. This brown belt works perfectly with the outfit’s neutral, monochromatic color scheme. Davey’s dark wash jeans bring a casual, even minimalist vibe to the overall aesthetic.
3. Accent Socks + Hipster Footwear
Davey cuffs his jeans for the ultimate look, showing off his fun accent socks. If you look closely, you can see a floral design on the socks! As an added bonus, check out his awesome shoes. These pointed-toe loafers are all the rage right now. I would say Davey has earned his masters in creating the perfect balance between casual wear and formal wear.
