Hayley combines every major fall trend into one chic ensemble.

I’ve spotted Hayley more than a few times around the halls and each of her sleek ensembles is somehow more chic than the one before. Her minimalistic and fashion-forward look was so enviable that I was dying to get her best tips for posh campus style.

Let’s Talk Fashion

Who or what inspires your style?

“A lot of fashion bloggers. I’ll literally just go on Tumblr and look at pictures and be like ‘I wanna look like that.’ I also follow a lot of stores on Instagram like Topshop and ASOS. I like to see the way they put stuff together.”

Where do you like to shop? “I work at Gap, so 85% of my wardrobe is from there. I love H&M, Topshop, Forever 21, and ASOS, [as well as] vintage stores here in Athens.”

How would you describe your sense of style? “Extremely minimalistic. I don’t like to wear a lot of color, but I make up for that in my accessories and makeup. Everything I wear is very neutral and as simple as possible.”

Why did you choose this particular outfit? “It makes me feel a little vintage-y and super cute, to be honest!”

What fashion advice would you give to other students looking to improve their style? “Don’t overdo it. Don’t try to be fancy on accessories and clothes and shoes. Center your outfit around that one piece that you really love.”

Do you have any favorite designers?
Coach’s new line this season was extremely different. I really like the direction they’re going. I love Balmain and Chloé also.”

What do you do for fun? Do you have any unique hobbies or interests?
“I love painting, online shopping, reading, and watching movies. Also, spending time with my little sister! Sometimes I like to go to Atlanta with my friends and hit up some museums or concerts, too.”

If you could raid anyone’s closet who would it be and why? “Serena from Gossip Girl. She just looks so perfect.”

Who’s your style icon? “Kendall Jenner. Her style is very simple and she doesn’t care what people think when she wears stuff.”

If you had $1,000 to spend on any clothing item or accessory what would it be?
“A Chloé Faye bag in grey. Yup, that’s definitely what I want most.”

If you could go anywhere in the world to shop, where would you go and why?
“London, hands down. I love that people there aren’t afraid to wear what they want, and the way they put things together is so unexpected.”

Elements of Hayley’s Outfit

1. Denim Shift Dress

If hundreds of “How to Dress Like a French Girl” articles haven’t inspired you to add a denim dress to your closet yet, Hayley’s chic look will. Effortless to throw on, a shift dress in America’s favorite fabric is a fall essential. Paired with midi boots, sneakers, or platforms, Hayley’s Forever 21 frock is a must.

2. Funky Bag + Simple Accessories

Who needs a backpack when there are so many stylish options out there? Crocheted, applique, and carpet bags are it for this season. Scour your local vintage shops for a colorful satchel and use it as a funky accent piece. Throw on a few simple cuffs or bangles and the look is complete!

3. Lace-Up Flatforms

Lucky for us, NYFW proved that the beloved lace-up shoe trend isn’t going away anytime soon (hello-oo lace-up over-the-knee boots!). Transition your favorite shoe trend to fall weather with dark suede flatforms like Hayley’s from ASOS. A little extra height and easy to walk in?! Sign us up!
