Ready or not, here fall comes!

As much as we hate to admit that summer is coming to a close, you can’t help but get those warm fuzzies inside thinking about fall weather and pumpkin spice lattes (c’mon, you know you love them too!).

With days getting shorter and my separation anxiety from my favorite sweaters getting harder to handle, Kristin’s comfy-cute outfit really got me in the chilly weather spirit. Easy, breezy, and with just a dash of autumn style, Kristin hit the nail on the head with this cozy look.

Let’s Talk Fashion

Who or what inspires your style?

“I really like the easy bohemian style. Kind of like what Vanessa Hudgens wears a lot of. I think it combines comfort and style really nicely and I like the free-spirited look of it.”

Where do you like to shop?
“When I have the funds I love shopping at American Threads in downtown Athens or Urban Outfitters. I know, I’m basic!”

How would you describe your sense of style?

“Honestly I’m still in the process of developing my style. I love wearing edgy clothes, like skinny jeans and leather jackets, but depending on my mood I might opt to wear a flowy dress instead. Usually my outfit is a reflection of how I’m feeling about myself at that particular time – which is something that’s always changing.”

Why did you choose this particular outfit?
“I just recently got these shorts, which I really love because they’re super comfy and simple but also cute. I threw on the boots and sweater because fall is coming and I felt that the layers would be fitting for that occasion.”

What fashion advice would you give to other students looking to improve their style?
“I think the most important thing about fashion is to be confident and comfortable in what you’re wearing. If you’re not comfortable with your outfit, you’re not going to have a good time. But other than that, it’s all about self-expression.”

Do you have any favorite designers? “I don’t really know any designers. I usually just buy what I think looks cute and shop by the store. Actually, for shoes I love Steve Madden. Pretty sure that’s where my boots are from!”

What do you do for fun? Do you have any unique hobbies or interests?
“I love hiking and nature. I always feel this awesome sense of interconnectedness with the world when I am out in nature, looking at the stars or whatnot. I’m a coffee addict and I’ve recently gotten into painting canvases, which is fun and cathartic.”

If you could raid anyone’s closet who would it be and why?
“Definitely Vanessa Hudgens. She just totally rocks her style.”

Who’s your style icon?

“Vanessa Hudgens again! She just looks so confident and cool in everything she wears.”

If you had $1,000 to spend on any clothing item or accessory what would it be?

“I don’t know if I could drop $1,000 on any one item in good conscience. I’d probably buy a bunch of new jewelry since I’m always losing it… maybe a really nice pair of jeans. I’d just generally update my whole wardrobe! Okay, but if I had to spend it on one item… I’d get like a nice leather Frye bag for my future working days.”

Elements of Kristin’s Outfit

1. Summer Tank + Fall Sweater

Whether you’re just trying to stay warm in your lecture hall or an autumn breeze has already crept onto your campus, layering is a must for all seasons. Pair a basic summer tank with your favorite comfy cardigan, like Kristin’s from Urban Outfitters.

2. Cozy-Cute Shorts

You don’t have to say goodbye to summer linens or short shorts just yet. Wearing them in an unexpected color like olive or burnt orange is a stylish and comfortable choice for walking on campus that still hints at the season to come.

3. Combat Boots

Maybe it’s their durability, maybe it’s because they magically go with everything, but one thing is for certain: combat boots never truly go out of season. Let them make an appearance now with flowy shorts or a fun printed sundress and wear them all fall season with your favorite skinnies or leggings.
