Who or what inspires your style? “The “fall” tag on Pinterest. It’s important to me to look cute and still be warm and Pinterest offers a variety of styles and pictures to get inspiration from.”
Where do you like to shop? “H&M and American Eagle are really great places to get my basics. I also love Banana Republic if I want to treat myself to something a little nicer like a cute jacket or a great pair of shoes.”
How would you describe your sense of style? “Simple and to the point. I don’t like dealing with anything over-the-top or fussy.”
Why did you choose this particular outfit? “The weather definitely determines what kind of clothes I wear. Boots are great for the Massachusetts weather because sometimes it rains out of nowhere. I was also going apple picking today so I needed an outfit I felt cozy and comfortable in.”
What fashion advice would you give to other students looking to improve their style? “Pick pieces that are really versatile. If you can go from work to a party in the same outfit or just changing your shoes, it makes your life so much easier and you can really focus on important things.”
Do you have any favorite fashion designers? “Marc Jacobs! The clothes are so soft and such good quality especially in the winter time.”
What do you do for fun? Do you have any unique hobbies or interests? “I really like to cook. Having a home cooked meal is so nice after a long day. I also love writing.”
If you could raid anyone’s closet who would it be and why? “Kendall Jenner because she’s cute in literally anything. She also has a tendency to stick to really simple pieces or one knockout piece.”

1. Rain Boots
Riya’s Sperry rain boots are to die for! I love how they incorporate a mix of neutral colors. Brown and black look great worn together, regardless of what you’ve heard in the past. The buckle detail also adds a hint of sophistication to her look. Of course, the boots are really useful as well, rain or shine.
2. Gold Hoops
Riya doesn’t have many accessories in her outfit. Her statement piece? This fantastic pair of hoop earrings from Forever 21. Earrings are always a great choice for days on campus because they don’t get in the way of writing the way bracelets can.
3. Peacoat
In the fall, you NEED a really great jacket. Pick one in a neutral color like Riya’s and you can wear it with anything. A staple coat like this makes getting dressed in the morning painless.
