Stylish and relaxed, this might be the perfect school day look.

Staying comfortable at school, in my opinion, is one of the most important factors to consider when dressing for class. If you’re not relaxed, you’re probably spending more time worrying about your outfit than learning. However, it’s always a bonus when your outfit is stylish in addition to being comfortable. That’s the case for SAIT student Therese.

Let’s Talk Fashion

Who or what inspires your style? “I get a lot of inspiration from my friends and people who I just see walking around on the street, or on Instagram.”

How would you describe your sense of style? “I would describe it as being laid-back and comfortable.”

Why did you choose this particular outfit? “This is one of my go-to outfits honestly. It’s super comfortable and I just feel relaxed in it. Most days I have an early class and stay late to study and since it’s cold in Calgary, I need an outfit that will make me feel cozy but will also keep me warm.”

Where do you like to shop? “I like thrifting a lot. I used to shop at the mall a lot and I still do from time to time, but most of my items are thrifted now. I like finding items that stores would charge for $30 and get it for $10.”

What do you do for fun – do you have any unique hobbies or interests? “Ever since I got my dog O’Mally, I like spending time with him [for fun], but that’s probably what every pet owner says.”

What fashion advice would you give to other students looking to improve their style? “Even if you’re not sure about your outfit, just wear it. Someone out there will like what you’re wearing and it’s always nice to experiment and to just find a style that works for you.”

Elements of Therese’s Outfit

1. Ripped Jeans

Ripped jeans are our favorite trend of the season and are perfect for the fall-to-winter transition. Just think about it: what’s better when you want to wear jeans but don’t want to be too hot? They’re also super stylish, so that’s an added bonus.

2. Open-Knit Sweater

The constant weather changes in fall can make you want to switch from wearing a pair of jeans to a skirt, but open-knit sweaters are a good option year round. You can always layer with these sweaters.

3. Combat Boots

If you haven’t invested in a pair of combat boots, you should do so NOW. With winter around the corner, these boots will become a necessity in your wardrobe and they can easily add a touch of edginess to every outfit.
