Monthly Favorites: June 2016
From handbags and dresses to beach reads, here’s what I’m loving right now.
As I rewound through this past month to collect my favorites, I couldn’t help but think of the fact that very soon, 2016 will be exactly halfway over. Crazy! On the positive side, as we ease into summer here in New England, the best of the warm weather is still to come, and that excites me very much.
So with another month coming to an end, it is time for Monthly Favorites! If you read my post on February favorites and my post on January favorites, you know that I really look forward to doing these write-ups, so I couldn’t be happier that it’s time for a new one! Here are my June Favorites:
1. Rebecca Minkoff “Regan” Satchel – Nordstrom
If you read my January Wishlist post, you may have noticed that this bag was on my radar. Throughout the semester I was busy carrying the same tote to classes and everywhere else. However, I recently felt the need for a basic black everyday bag, and I immediately thought of this one. After some more debating, I finally got it!
It’s a real keeper. I am pleased with everything about it — its wet leather, its perfect “not too big, not too small” size, its compartments, versatility, and fashionable aesthetics. I’m so glad I got this bag and I highly recommend it if you’re in the market for an everyday satchel.
2. White Dress – Zara
Last summer I purchased this dress during Zara’s summer sale (which is going on again right now!!) for under $20!
It has somewhat of an A-line, a V-neck, and a simple but eye-catching slit on the sides. I have found it to be such an easy but trendy piece, and I’ve worn it several times this month. It looks great with all types of accessories, as well as every shoe style from flip flops to heeled sandals.
3. Essie’s “Bikini So Teeny” – Amazon
This cornflower blue is truly one-of-a-kind! It is pretty and sassy with microscopic pieces of glitter, which add a stunning pearlescent effect. Not to mention that its application is luscious, rich, and very durable with just two coats of color.
4. The Girl On The Train – Amazon
This genius, engaging thriller (one of our CF Book Club picks from last year) is narrated by Rachel, a young woman struggling to cope with her post-divorce life. She takes the train to the city every day and during the ride, she has created a fantasy world based on the scenery along the train tracks. Soon, the fantasy world comes crashing down on the characters and most importantly, on Rachel herself…
I meant to read this book during any down time, a long commute, and/or a trip to the beach. Surprisingly, I devoured it in three days earlier this month!
5. Drake’s “One Dance” – YouTube
Yes, the original video came out at the end of April and the SNL performance below took place in May. That said, I can’t stop with this song. It’s definitely my favorite of the year so far.
Your thoughts?
What do you think of these items? Do you already own one or find a particular one irresistible? I think that If I had watched “Me Before You” It would have been on my list as well!
