How to be patriotic without sacrificing your personal style.

Welcome to the first edition of “One Event, Three Ways”! In this column, we take on life’s special occasions — holidays, parties, dates, first days at school or work — and we give you three outfits, each one designed to fit a different style vibe (preppy, edgy, classic, boho, etc.). This way, you can stay true to your trademark self, and maybe get some inspiration from outside your style comfort zone.

Speaking of holidays, the 4th of July is coming up! With so many ways to celebrate (at the beach! With a cookout! Just chilling!), the 4th is an occasion that is just perfect to be yourself in style.

Whether you like a preppy/classic vibe, are all about the trends, or tend to be more of a boho kind of girl, we have the inspiration here for you!

Fourth of July Outfit: Preppy

Products: Dress – Water Every Sunday, Shoes – Modcloth, Bag – Aeropostale, Lipstick – Charlotte Russe

Just because your style gravitates towards classic pieces and “tried-and-trues” doesn’t mean you can’t shake things up. For instance, this cool blue dress is a new (and adorable!) take on the regular shirt-dress, keeping it preppy enough to suit your tastes but casual enough for a backyard barbecue this holiday.

Add some patriotic flair by slipping on sneakers that round out our country’s color scheme. After that, all you have to do is grab your bag and don your best red lip, and you’re ready to party!

Fourth of July Outfit: Trendy

Products: Crop Top – Hollister, Shorts – Hollister, Choker – Simons, Sandals – Make Me Chic, Eyeshadow Palette – Target

If you are headed to the beach or on a road trip with friends this 4th of July and you pride yourself on keeping up with trends, this outfit is for you.

Chokers are almost a must for trendy outfits nowadays, but don’t let this black one steal the spotlight. Instead, let the focus be on the crop top and shorts combo (you could say that the white shorts are more daring than the top!) and keep things comfy (but pretty) with shiny gold slip on sandals.

Finish out the look with an understated but shimmery smoky eye, and you’ll be more eye-catching than any fireworks display!

Fourth of July Outfit: Boho Chic

Products: Shirt – Charlotte Russe, Overalls – Hollister, Sandals – Lulu’s, Hat – Old Navy

So chill and relaxed, this boho chic July 4th outfit is perfect if you’re just planning a laid back day with your loved ones this Independence Day.

Even if you’re not going out this Tuesday, it doesn’t hurt to dress in red, white and blue. The peasant top is simple and would look absolutely amazing paired with the denim overalls! The sandals keep things comfortable, and the sun hat gives this outfit that one last final touch of boho cuteness.

What do you think?

How will you be spending your 4th of July? Any styles you want to see outfits inspired by? Any cool events coming up for you that you’re excited to dress up for? Let me know in the comments!
