What to Wear in Winter: 4 Cute Outfits for Cold Weather
Don’t despair! You can still look cute when the weather is dreadful.
I don’t know about the weather where you are, but here in Boston it’s pretty much so cold that I don’t want to leave the house. Needless to say, winter weather is now dictating my style and I find myself browsing the web for winter outfit ideas near constantly.
Naturally, I thought I’d write an article on just that — cute winter outfits that will have you loving your wardrobe even when it’s miserable out.
While you should always be true to your own personal style, here are a few of my ideas for fabulous winter outfit ideas that won’t break the bank.
Winter Outfit #1 – Elegant & Simple
Products: Sweater – J.Crew, Shirt – Amazon, Boots – Hunter, Mittens – The North Face, Fleece Lined Leggings – Amazon, Parka – Zappos, Hat – Boohoo
This winter outfit is a perfect go-to for seriously cold days. It mixes shades of gray and black for a preppy, put-together vibe.
The best part is, this whole outfit is super functional — the leggings are lined with fleece to keep you warm, while the multiple layers up top add additional coverage. Finally, the Hunter boots are a total cold weather staple and an amazing investment!
Winter Outfit #2 – Eclectic Cool
Products: Coat – Nordstrom, Backpack – American Eagle, Bracelet – Kate Spade, Jeans – Topshop, Sunglasses – Amazon, Hoodie – Boohoo, Boots – Urban Outfitters
If you have an eclectic sense of style, you won’t be happy with a basic black winter outfit. You need to stand out! This eclectic-cool winter outfit idea helps you do just that.
Here, I mixed a burgundy red faux fur coat with some winter basics — namely ripped skinny jeans, a cozy oversized hoodie, and shiny combat boots. (I love the subtle stud detailing on these.) Finish with cool girl accessories like a mini backpack, bangle bracelet, and round sunglasses.
Winter Outfit #3 – Edgy Girl
Products: Scarf – Amazon, Pants – Topshop, Top – Nordstrom, Sneakers – Amazon, Coat – Missguided
This is the perfect edgy winter outfit. It’s based around an all black palette with a trendy faux fur coat over top. The coat is the statement piece, while the rest of the look remains neutral.
Though these pieces are neutral, they’re all interesting — the faux leather pants add a hint of texture (and are surprisingly warm in winter!), while the tunic-length sweater is a total must-have for the season. The Nike sneakers add comfort and style. Finish with a basic black scarf.
Winter Outfit #4 – Neutral with a Splash of Color
Products: Bag – Old Navy, Jeans – Topshop, Sweater – H&M, Scarf – Nordstrom, Boots – Amazon, Coat – ASOS
Here’s a winter outfit idea that’s a mix of all of the above looks, in one super casual and cozy outfit. It’s got pops of color but still stays neutral and incorporates enough layers to keep you ultra warm.
Begin with some simple black skinny jeans and black ankle booties — a classic winter combo. Add warmth with a cozy gray turtleneck sweater. A cream colored coat is a bit unexpected and super chic, while a black bucket bag is a staple you’ll rock year-round. Finish with a pop of color in the form of a red plaid scarf.
