4 Outfit Ideas for Exploring a New City
Traveling somewhere new and exciting? Here’s what to wear.
As I approach the one month mark of my journey abroad, I am now becoming familiar with my new city.
When I first arrived, I pretty much got lost at every corner. After spending the last four weeks really exploring, though, I have learned so much about my new home. I have found some great local spots like the public garden near my apartment and some amazing new stores. I’m finally at home here and it’s a wonderful feeling.
Are you getting to know a brand new city or planning to soon? Below are some ideas on not only where to explore, but what to wear while you play tourist.
Enjoying the Public Gardens
One of my favorite things to do is visit the Jardin Publique here. Many cities have public gardens and/or parks. Visiting one is a great way to relax and enjoy the beauty of the city. The gardens are a great place to meet friends and picnic, too!
For a laid-back look that’s perfect for wearing to the public garden, I mixed distressed jeans with comfy lace-up sandals and a trendy off-the-shoulder top in a floral print, naturally. I finished the look with the perfect picnic bag, courtesy of Beyonce.
I don’t have to tell you guys that shopping is one of the best parts of exploring a new city! It is always fun to check out the local shops and boutiques. Even stores you also have at home may have different merchandise in a different city.
I love having clothes from different cities, it’s like a memento from your trip. Not to mention, you’ll be the only one wearing it back at home!
The best way to get to know a city is to just wander. Getting lost in a new place helps you explore and discover things you might not have known about.
I’ve come to know my city by just walking everywhere. That’s why comfy shoes are a necessity! I unfortunately made the mistake of wearing uncomfortable shoes the first few weeks, and they absolutely destroyed my feet. Learn from my mistakes and rock comfy sneakers from the get-go.
Another must when visiting a new city is immersing yourself in the culture and history it has to offer. Some cities are hundreds of years old. It can be fascinating to know the history of where you are staying.
Aside from reading up and attending cultural events, I highly recommend visiting as many museums and monuments as you can! Again, with a lot of walking, I recommend comfy shoes and a lightweight crossbody bag.
Which look do you like the best? Have you been traveling lately? Let’s discuss in the comments!
