Need Summer Plans? Here Are 3 Things You Should Definitely Do This Summer (& Outfits to Match)
Have the best (and most stylish) summer of your life.
Summer break creeps up so fast that once it actually arrives, it can be hard to decide how to spend your free time. You pour all of your energy into making it through finals, studying, and killing it on tests, papers, and presentations, then you have to deal with packing and moving. Once you finally get home, you’re exhausted…. and then what?
If you’re like many students, you might find yourself sitting at home this summer with no real plan for your days, which can get frustrating and boring fast. That’s why I love to have a list of things to do during summer, some tentative plans I’m going to follow through on to make those months count.
Here are three ideas for things you should be doing this summer, plus the perfect outfits to match each occasion.
Have a Well-Earned Self Care Day
Okay, this is definitely step one once you get done with school, but it’s also a good activity to have in your back pocket throughout the summer, should you need to recharge.
Plan a full self care day for yourself: Do your nails at home, put on your favorite face mask, binge a new series on Netflix or dive into a new book, order in your favorite foods, and spend the whole day in your pajamas if you want. Sounds amazing, right?
When dressing for a self care day, you want to be cozy but you should also look cute — I don’t know about you, but I feel so much better when my loungewear is actually stylish. Rock some satin short pajamas (how adorable is this cactus print?!) for ultimate comfort. Next, throw your hair up in an on-trend scrunchie. Finish with cozy socks (these are *birthday cake print* and only $3, you guys!).
Beach Day with Your Best Friends
I mean, would it be summer without at least one beach day? If you ask me, the answer is a solid no. So make sure you fit at least one of these in! Grab a couple of friends and make a full day of it — bring chairs, umbrellas, towels, a cooler full of snacks, your favorite beach reads and magazines, even a waterproof bluetooth speaker.
Not near the ocean? Pools and lakes totally count for this! Just make sure you get at least one beach day in; it will help you really get into the summer feel.
You don’t have to get elaborate with a beach day outfit – just rock a cute bikini, some flip flops, and something stylish on top. Easy and simple! Here, I brought in the gingham trend with this pretty bikini. Over top, I added a “run this beach” cropped tee (so cute), and some classic cutoffs. Finish with simple flip flops and an ultra-cute pineapple beach towel.
Attend a Summer Concert
There are so many opportunities to watch live music outdoors in the summer – take advantage! Nearly every city has outdoor concerts or festivals going on, so look into the events happening near you and vow to go to at least one. Bonus points if it’s a band or artist you’ve been meaning to see forever — the memory will last a lifetime.
There are tons of possibilities when it comes to outfits for a summer concert, but here’s one of my favorite go-to looks. Pair a band tee with some high-waisted shorts and tuck the tee in halfway. (Alternatively, you could go for a cute bandeau top like this one if you wanted a trendier look.) Then add an oversized denim jacket over top. Complete the look with a cute holographic fanny pack and some classic, comfy sneakers.
