These outfits will defeat Thanos.

I feel as though people either live for monochromatic outfits or hate them with a passion. Up until recently, I was in the latter camp. However, I kind of love them now. I think they’re chic and they feel quite modern and fresh.

I had originally planned to show you five monochrome outfits this week… and then I saw Avengers: Infinity War for the third time (because apparently I love to suffer). Inspired by the film, I decided to make six outfits, one for each of the Infinity stones. Please enjoy the following outfits ‘loosely’ inspired by the soul, time, space, reality, mind and power stones.

Note: All of these outfits revolve around a dress (it’s sundress season, after all!) and they also each have a pendant necklace of some sort to represent the individual Infinity stone. Each stone plays a crucial role in the film and Thanos shows no mercy when retrieving each of them so be warned, there are MAJOR spoilers ahead.

TO REPEAT: THERE ARE MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD! Proceed only if you’re okay knowing what happens in Infinity War.

Orange – Soul Stone

If you ask me, the soul stone caused the most drama in Avengers: Infinity War. It cost Gamora her life and claimed the lives of half of the Avengers. (Who knew Thanos actually loved someone enough to sacrifice them?) Well, half of the avengers are technically stuck inside of the soul stone, but until 2019 they’re considered “not alive.”

As far as the outfit itself goes, I didn’t think the orange ensemble was going to be one of my favorites, but I was wrong. I love it! Orange is a bold and fun choice for the summer season, and it looks so fresh when you wear it from head to toe. Any of these pieces would look great as an accent to a basic outfit, as well.

Green – Time Stone

Doctor Strange gave up the time stone to save Tony Stark? WILD. That was definitely the one possibility out of 14,000,600 that could have ended in the defeat of Thanos.

This all green outfit is cool and clean, perfect for strolling along the boardwalk or brunching in the park this summer. I love these of-the-moment palm print espadrille sandals as they add a fun pop of pattern to the look.

Blue – Space Stone

I’m still distraught that my man Loki gave up the space stone and lost his life. He’s not stuck inside the soul stone so I don’t even have a glimmer of hope to hold onto. Here’s hoping he faked his death, for the second time, and pops up unannounced in Avengers 4.

Mourn Loki in this somber yet elegant all-blue look for the summer season. This cutout dress shows just the right amount of skin without being vulgar, and the platform sandals are an unexpected touch that’s very summer ’18.

Red – Reality Stone

By the time Thanos has the reality stone, he has already become the most powerful being in the universe. We learn that from Bruce Banner in the beginning of the film and, well,  that just spells trouble from the start.

This all red ensemble inspired by the reality stone is bold and eye-catching, not for girls who like to blend in. I can see this looking amazing for a night out with the girls either grabbing drinks or dining al fresco – so chic!

Yellow – Mind Stone

Retrieving the mind stone was such a wild ride. Ironically, it was my favorite part of the film. I loved the Wakanda scenes. I loved seeing Bucky and Steve reunite. I loved seeing Shuri aid Vision. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out the way everyone hoped they would. (Do they ever?)

This is the last stone Thanos needs and once he gets it, with the snap of his fingers half of the universe is turned to ash. Ouch.

This outfit inspired by the mind stone is decidedly more happy and lighthearted than the stone’s role in the film, and that’s for the best. Gen Z yellow, as you know, is a huge trend this year and this outfit embraces it full force. It even includes sneakers so you can window shop in comfort.

Purple – Power Stone

We saved the first stone for last: Thanos already has this stone when the film begins. He got it after he destroyed Xandar. I’m thinking maybe he went for that one first because it matches his complexion. Who knows?

This outfit will have you looking like the powerful fashionista you are. It mixes a daring body-con dress with ultra-trendy patent mules and white sunglasses. I finished it off with a jeweled clutch for extra pop and a nod to all of the Infinity Stones.
