7 Apartment Must-Haves for Animal Lovers

Let your space reflect your love of the animal kingdom.

It’s safe to assume that (nearly) everyone loves at least one animal. Some of us love pretty much all creatures, or we may be wholly obsessed with monkeys or cats.

But even though we favor these cute and cuddly creatures, most apartments are barren of animal-themed decor. This may be because it seems childish to have posters or pillows plastered with pictures of puppies, or maybe just because finding cute animal items on your regular shopping trip is rare.

Either way, if you want to add some animal-themed decor to your apartment or dorm, check out these seven decor staples:

Giraffe Sculpture

Giraffe Sculpture -$29.95 at Z Gallerie

This bright, gold giraffe is the perfect statement piece for your coffee table. Standing tall at about 1.5 feet, this textured sculpture attracts attention and will brighten up a room.

Elephant Jewelry Holder

Berry Jewelry Elephant Ring Holder – $18 at Bloomingdales

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m constantly forgetting where I put my rings. Or even worse, they fall off my shelf and somehow roll under my bed, where I will find them months later. Forget your hassles about storing jewelry with this elephant jewelry holder! Even though this little guy is from Bloomingdale’s, he’s an affordable and practical investment. There also appears to be versions as a deer and unicorn.

Squirrel Birdfeeder

Scurrying Squirrel Bird Feeder – $15 at Zulily

This may not be an option for everyone, but if you happen to have a balcony or backyard, why not share your space with birds? This birdfeeder doubles as a mini sculpture with character. If you’re okay with feathered friends making your place a sanctuary, this is the way to do it.

Cat Art Print

Shannon Lee Black Cat Art Print – $29 at Urban Outfitters

I love this way too much. Artist Shannon Lee developed this print based on her childhood cat Noodles (how cute is that?) and it’s available in five sizes. So fill up an entire wall and get it framed, or use the 12×12 version to add some flair to your space.

Dinosaur Planter

Gold Velociraptor Planter – $22 at Etsy

Dinosaur planters aren’t new, but they’re still so adorable that I have to put them on this list. If you’ve got a green thumb, or just want a way to make your desk more alive, you could benefit from a succulent. One that comes in a gold velociraptor ready to pounce.

Kangaroo Pencil Holder

Royal Kangaroo Pencil Holder – $32.99 at Novica

This handcrafted “royal kangaroo” pencil holder is the best way to keep your writing utensils together. You can read more about Diana Dewi, the artist who created this piece, when purchasing. She crafts a lot of other printed animal pieces, like these gecko wall sculptures, that are also crafted abroad with love.

Zebra Vase

Quail Designs Zebra Vase – $48.75 at Trouva

At first I thought this was another sculpture, but it’s actually a vase! If you want to add some character to your kitchen, I recommend buying some brightly colored flowers and displaying them in your zebra. This piece is also available in other animals, such as a goat or brown bear.
