Getting ready for festival season on a serious budget.

Thomas Hawk

Festival season is right around the corner and Coachella 2018 is only a few weeks away in April!

Outfit planning can be one of the most stressful parts of packing for music festivals, but I suggest you make it fun — events like Coachella are the perfect time to get out of your comfort zone and play with your style.

Whether you’re going to Weekend 1 or Weekend 2, here are my three favorite Coachella outfits for this year, each under $100 total.

Warning: The desert is 10 times hotter, dustier, and bigger than you think! Don’t forget to hydrate, protect yourself from the sun and the dust, and wear comfortable shoes.

Coachella Outfit #1 – Retro

The retro looks we’re seeing lately are all about patterns and accessories. Keep your outfit simple and comfortable, and focus on everything in-between! Add on a pair of vintage-inspired shades, strap on a fun belt bag, and top it off with a patterned scarf.

Neck scarves and bandanas serve a dual purpose; they’re stylish and they’ll protect you from inhaling all the dust in Indio. When I went to Coachella last year, I made the mistake of not bringing a bandana and I had a sore throat for days! Incorporate it into your outfit for aesthetics and protection.

Coachella Outfit #2 – Metallic

If you’re going for an edgier vibe, this look is for you. Black is the easiest color to wear, and the dark, solid color draws all the attention to your accessories.

Metals are the key element to achieving this look. Add a chain belt, ear cuff, and aviators to create an eye-catching, rockstar vibe.

Warning: Darker colors absorb a lot more heat than light colors do, so if you decide to wear all black, I’d keep the clothing airy and minimal!

Products: Halter Top – Tobi, Shorts – Forever 21, Chain Belt – 12th Tribe, Booties – H&M

Coachella Outfit #3 – Bohemian

You can’t go to Coachella without having at least one boho look on deck. This is your chance to channel your inner Vanessa Hudgens, who’s been deemed “Queen of Coachella” for the past few years.

My boho look was my favorite outfit to wear when I went to Coachella last year because it was the most comfortable, cooling, and effortlessly stylish. Add a sun hat to top off the look and shade your face from the sun!
