This WVU Student Shows Us Why She is the Queen of Accessorizing

This West Virginia University student is the perfect example of welcoming the warm spring weather with your ensemble. I saw Molly’s eye-catching springtime look between classes on the Evansdale campus.

Let’s Talk Fashion
Who or what inspires your style? “I always keep my eye [on people’s clothes] when walking around campus, so I honestly draw inspiration from other fashionable people I see. If I know I have the same pieces at home, I’ll try out the outfit too. I also live on Pinterest, so I get inspired from my clothing board.”
Where do you like to shop? “All of my pants and jeans are from Gap and everything else is from J. Crew, H&M, and Target. I live for the good deals.”
How would you describe your sense of style? “When I have a full day of classes, I need to dress practical[ly] and wear my New Balances, so the athleisure trend has been taking over my life lately. When I’m going out for coffee or lunch though, I’d say my style can kind of be a mix of edgy and preppy.”
Why did you choose this particular outfit? “I chose this outfit because it’s casual enough to wear walking around campus while also making a statement with my necklace and shoes. Since we keep having random warm days, I love creating outfits where I don’t have to have a coat; this button-up shirt is perfect for that.”
What fashion advice would you give to students wanting to improve their style? “Add statement pieces! Bold accessories will automatically take your outfit to the next level. It’s easy to just add a neck scarf, put on tassel earrings, or find a pair of wild shoes to wear. A solid capsule wardrobe leaves room for fun details.”
What are your favorite trends right now? “I don’t know if I would consider denim jackets a trend – as they’ve been around forever and will be here into eternity – but I’ve been seeing them more and more lately and I love it. I throw my jacket on with all of my outfits and I instantly feel put-together and cool. I like seeing people put personalized pins and patches on theirs. I might have to try that.”
Do you have any favorite fashion designers? If so, who? “Kate Spade is definitely one of my favorite designers because her products are so playful but sophisticated. Her stores are colorful and full of mirrors, picture frames, and chairs, so her whole brand image is really coherent and fun. I love my emerald green purse because it adds a unique pop of color to any outfit, but I also have a grey purse that matches everything.”
What do you do for fun – do you have any unique hobbies or interests? “In my free time, I really like writing out quotes and painting watercolor around them. I’m definitely not an artist, but it’s fun and relaxing to just create stuff.”
If you could raid anyone’s closet, who would it be and why? “I would love to share clothes with Natalia Dyer because her dresses are so detailed and gorgeous, but she also wears comfy sweaters and cardigans. Her whole style is just so edgy and cool.”

Here we have another fashionista who is obsessed with rings! I love how she mixed her silver and gold pieces; that’s a trend that has been pretty strong in recent years. I am loving the color of Molly’s over-the-shoulder Kate Spade purse! Molly said her daily routine with purses switches between over-the-shoulder and tote bags. Her purse really brings out the emerald ring she got from her Mom.

Take note of Molly’s ripped jeans. They are conservatively ripped, allowing Molly to be able to wear them and still achieve a relatively dressed-up look.
